2022 e-Learning Trends!
A few weeks back we looked at 6 e-Learning trends that could affect our industry in 2022, today we look at another 6.
#7: The Quick Shot Approach
While full classroom training will return, at present we face a period where training will, for some part, be on-line.
During this time we will be working with Learners, who will be studying, in their lounges, kitchens, and even bedrooms.
We spoke about micro-learning in the last blog, but some companies have gone even deeper into their quest to tailor education to the new norms. Aiming to get learning down to a few minutes at a time. Making the course, look more like post-it notes, with quick points sent regularly, aiming for the learning to become more of a habit than a lesson.
#8: Learning on the Move
The world’s population is racing towards 8 billion people (it was close to half that 50 years ago!). Statistics suggest there are now 4 billion people using smartphones.
Have you ensured your online courses are mobile-friendly? If not, you could be missing out on a huge opportunity.
If you offer courses via smartphones, you can tap into a market that wants to learn when it suits them, such as while they are travelling, out at lunch etc.
#9: Learning via Videos
Since March 2020 there has been a major move to Video-based learning.
Most of us have used YouTube to learn how to do tasks and can see how easy it is to absorb lessons via videos. It is the same with Courses.
If you are new to e-Learning an easy way to get into video training is to record one of your facilitators as they run a course and then upload it. Later you can get into more sophisticated formats.
Video-based training is here to stay.
#10: Gamification
Gamification is a way to stop your courses from becoming boring. There is nothing worse than going through page after page of training materials without a break.
Gamification, as its name suggests, aims to make learning part of a game, and we all like games.
You can add Learner boards, badges, and achievement targets to your courses. If you are working in groups, make it a challenge for your team, make your courses fun.
#11: Share Rich Interactive Content
We talked about making courses fun in the gamification section, but what about also making your learner interact with the content?
By adding interactive content to your courses, Learners can test their new skills by taking knowledge-based tests.
You can add such questions as:
· True/False
· Multiple Choice
· Matching
· Drag and Drop
· and more!
All of which can:
· Reinforce the Learning experience
· Make the training experience more fun, by added involvement in the Course
· Improve retention
· Increase motivation
· Increase the efficiency of the Learning Event
· Improve training resources
#12: Social Learning
Some of us are happy to learn on our own, but others prefer to learn in groups.
With the latter, the use of groups such as Forums, Chatrooms, and file-sharing can encourage them to learn.
In conclusion, while we may not be able to get back to full classroom live training soon, we can still involve learners and assist them to support each other, by using technology.
Going forward we could end up with a blend of live and online training being the best fit for education.
